Course Scope This Seafarer.Online course will familiarise seafarers employed on vessels with the security risks associated with shipping and the maritime world. It is a legal requirement that all seafarers undertake security awareness training. The course is written in compliance with –
IMO model course 3.27, STCW reg. VI/6, table A-VI/6-1 ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security) code If you are required to complete security related duties as part of your role on a vessel then you will require the designated Security duties course instead.
Target Audience This course is mandatory for all seafarers employed on vessels.
Required experience No prior experience is required to complete this course
Course delivery This course is delivered though our online e-learning portal. An internet connection is required to complete the course.

Course duration The course will take approximately 3 hours to complete. The learning portal saves your progress so learners can take as many breaks as needed.
Course content The course is split into 4 modules –
1 – Introduction 2 – Importance of ship’s security and those involved with it’s provision 3 – Essential requirements and measures for upholding ship security 4 – Recognising security threats
Course assessment The final assessment consists of a multiple choice test. The learner must achieve a score of at least 75% to pass.
Flag state approval This course is approved by the Norwegian Maritime Authority.
After completing your course and receiving your training certificate, you will need to upload it to the Norwegian Maritime Authority’s website to obtain your official Certificate of Proficiency. This is a quick and straightforward process and an email will be sent explaining the process that needs to be followed.
