A freight class is a standard number used in shipping to categorize goods. In the United States, freight classes are defined by the NMFC, which stands for National Motor Freight Classification. There are 18 freight classes, starting from Class 50 (the cheapest) to Class 500 (the most expensive). The lower the class, the lower the shipping cost.
