Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched an inquiry into senior executives of Mercuria, a Geneva-based global commodities trading firm, potentially charging them with fraud, cheating and criminal breach of trust. The investigation focuses on Mercuria’s business dealings with UAE-based Eleven Consultancy and contracts in Congo Brazzaville, with implications that undisclosed or irregular transactions may have occurred. Documents have been sought from the company as the probe could expand internationally, involving Interpol and scrutiny of alleged covert practices.
