Welcoming the Unwelcome is a Cape York project documenting and honouring First Nations LGBTQIA+ Sistergirls and Brotherboys through portrait photography and personal storytelling. Led by Marijke Bassani, a Lama Lama (Lamalama) and Binthi Warra woman, the initiative centres community voices within the Black Rainbow Cape York movement, supporting cultural visibility and financial autonomy for participants.
